Residence Building
In 2004 The Glebe Centre opened a new building which had been constructed to meet current Ministry of Health Standards. At that time all existing residents of the Tower (which had accommodated cognitive and dementia residents since 1974) moved into the new building. It is the most southerly of the 3 Glebe Centre buildings and its entrance is on Monk Street opposite Oakland Avenue.
This new residence consists of 6 floors and is connected on 3 levels to the older Bronson Place building. The lower 2 floors of the Residence Building comprise the Dementia Unit and floors 3-6 the Cognitive Unit. Floor 6 also houses the Chinese Unit. The ground floor contains the Reception area and also the cafeteria, gift-shop and hair-dressing salon. 2 levels of basement are occupied by Maintenance and Food Services and also provide parking for staff. The Residence Building provides a major role in our Long-Term Care Services.
